Year Three has been looking at the live of the late, great Louis Armstrong. Born in poverty in New Orleans, the cradle of jazz, little Louis sadly ended up in the 'Colored Waifs Home,' where his musical talent shone through when he led the the home's marching band. Acknowledged as one of the greatest exponents of jazz for his spectacular trumpet playing and distinctive singing voice, Louis is still an inspirational figure today for standing up and speaking for black rights. He was also noted for his support of the Jewish community, wearing their symbol, the Star of David as a mark of solidarity. Our Year Three songwriters reworked the lyrics of Louis' beautiful song, 'What a Wonderful World' to give us their own take on how we can make our world beautiful. It's fair to say the ideas they came up with made us want to spend more time in Year Three's wonderful world.
