School meals, textbooks, paper products, cleaning supplies and so much more. All of the items essential for everyday school operations are received and delivered by our district warehouse team, who always makes sure our schools and students have everything they need to succeed.

At San Ramon Valley Unified District, we have a dedicated warehouse department made up of ten team members. In order to ensure accurate inventory, the warehouse staff receives all deliveries and records the inventory into the district’s asset database. The warehouse and the committed team who work there are key to the supply chain of SRVUSD.

Every school day, warehouse employees are in charge of daily shipping, receiving, delivery tracking, food service, freight, purchase orders and mail delivery across all thirty-four SRVUSD school sites and two district buildings. Additionally, the team is responsible for maintaining inventory of food, custodial items, books, files and technology. With consistent product flow in and out of the warehouse, the team focuses on working collaboratively to keep the warehouse space organized.

When asked what is working well in the warehouse, Zetta Reicker, Director of Child Nutrition & Warehouse answered, “Teamwork. They all pitch in to assist where needed. If one team member has been assigned a large task, if someone is available, they will immediately jump in and lend a hand.” Teamwork is an integral component of SRVUSD’s Strategic Directions, specifically Shared Leadership and Culture of Responsiveness. Zetta continued by sharing that “the team receives a lot of last minute, emergency requests, being asked to adjust the workflow and what they are doing in order to assist and complete the task, while also ensuring the usual operations are completed.” This amazing group is nimble and flexible to keep everything running smoothly.

The dedication and work ethic of the warehouse team speaks volumes in fulfilling SRVUSD Culture of Responsiveness. Zetta recalls, “at the beginning of this school year, Child Nutrition had a delivery coming in for which we were not able to fully store in the two large warehouse freezers. So the team had to very quickly game plan, communicate out to the school kitchens, and move products around and deliver out to the schools. It was a stressful day requiring a lot of communication and coordination under tight timelines, but the team pulled together and made it happen. They also are often assigned projects which require roll out to all district sites under tight timelines. They were also a critical part in distributing meals to families when students were engaged in at-home learning.” This sentiment sums up the meaningful behind-the-scenes work the warehouse team accomplishes throughout the school year for all of our students and staff.

Warehouse deliveries can be physically demanding. Regardless of outside conditions, the warehouse team works in the frigid cold, slippery rain and scorching heat. The team ensures all SRVUSD schools get what they need, so that our students have the resources to succeed. We give a huge shoutout to our SRVUSD Warehouse Team - next time you see them on your campus make sure to thank them for all they do!
