STEM in SRVUSD: Innovation Centers

In 2018, the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation (SRVEF) donated money to SRVUSD to be able to open up two Innovation Hubs - one at Charlotte Wood Middle and the other at Gale Ranch Middle. These centers have technological resources available for teachers to check out to enhance deep learning in classrooms at every school in the district. “We know that students can benefit tremendously from STEM education,” said SRVEF Executive Director Vanessa Berastain. “Our staff and students deserve the best resources available to foster the collaboration, creativity and deep learning that SRVUSD is known for bringing to their students. We are proud that the SRVEF was a part of bringing this to reality.”

Hands-on experiences and real-world applications is what STEM is all about. These Innovation Centers have the highest quality resources, technology and supplies that teachers need to be equipped to bring STEM focused learning back to the classroom. Whether it be an Oculus Quest, Cuebot, Cublet or any of the other innovative teaching and learning resources, they are all available for SRVUSD staff to check out to bring back to their classrooms and use with students. 

SRVUSD Director of Technology and former teacher and principal, Kelly Hilton, explained that “STEM education helps integrate multiple disciplines together for students, and deepens their learning across the curriculum.” She added that “we are so appreciative to the SRVEF for making this possible to ensure deepened STEM learning in our classrooms.” 

SRVUSD prepares students for everything they aspire to after graduation - whether that be going directly into their career or attending a trade school, community college or 4-year institution. STEM education is a key component of the deep learning and innovation that opens up our students to a world of possibilities!
