Our Moral Imperative
Nuestro imperativo moral
As our Superintendent Jim Hogeboom mentioned, equity is our moral imperative. Experts in the field of social justice have suggested ways in which school communities can address implicit bias, gaps in achievement and attatinment, and racism.
Encourage personal awareness of the problem
Engage with diverse leadership teams that can provide professional development to staff, community, and students
Enpower staff to incorporate culturally relevent teaching practices
Ensure that staff explicitly teaches about race and equity
Enable the school community to continue to hold schools accountable for best practices and systemic work to close achievement gaps and address equity and acts of bias

But where do we begin? / ¿Pero por dónde empezamos?
At the district level, we have begun the work to look at our school's response to systemic racism through our work with Courageous Conversations. We know this is just the beginning. We believe that knowledge is power - it improves awareness and calls us to action. We offer these resources for anyone that is interested in increasing their awareness of these problems, or for anyone struggling to find the words to talk about this with their children.
