Building Relationships with Law Enforcement

At the Urban Learning Centre, we value our role within the Osborne community and believe in fostering positive, trust-based relationships for our children. As part of our "I Love to Read" month, we were honored to host officers from the Winnipeg Police Service.

Detailed information regarding our guest readers—including their photographs—has been available since early February in our newsletter and on the display board located between the front vestibule and the security doors.

A Partnership Built on Trust

These officers are integral members of the Osborne Community Outreach Program and have collaborated with our centre for over a year. We see these interactions as a vital way for children to build healthy, approachable relationships with those dedicated to community safety.

We recognize that families come to us with diverse histories. For some, including our refugee families or those with previous law enforcement interactions, seeing officers in a supportive, educational role is a powerful way to redefine safety for the next generation.
