And just like that, the summer has ended! The Sabe environment started the month by making gifts for our beloved educators and other staff who celebrated their birthdays and anniversaries. It is one of our ways in showing our appreciation for their valuable contributions and unending support.

We took advantage of the good weather and the last days of summer to be out and about. Aside from Fort Rouge,  we also visited Mayfair Park. It was also our first time visiting Munson Park where it had a unique ecosystem made our nature exploration even more meaningful. The children all the more appreciated and strengthened their nature-connectedness.
Our community walks also significantly benefited the children as they provided a unique, experiential way for growth and learning through observation, movement, and interaction with their surroundings. These deepened their connection to our natural environment and our community resources. We went to the Little Red Library, where the children made themselves busy and engaged in different types of books offered. After that, the children chose some books which we brought back to the centre and added to our wonderful book collection.
We celebrated Madaxx's graduation, and we bid her farewell as she embarked on her journey to higher education. You will always be a part of the Sabe environment, and you will be missed, Madaxx!
We participated in wearing orange shirts to commemorate our National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The children were made aware of the intergenerational impacts of residential schools through learning about Indigenous histories and cultures, and participating in actions which promote understanding and healing. We watched a video about Phyllis Webstad, the founder of Orange Shirt Day, and the story behind it.
