Leaves, Puddles, Pumpkins, oh my! Fall in Winnipeg doesn't last nearly enough but we will do our best to make it this season count. New season, new environment, and new fun and adventures - as the fall season began, our new environment began to rise, we would like to thank Amy and Marta for being such amazing educators who took care of the Bear family. We want to give our warm welcome to Hazel and Nathan, who will be the educators in the environment. Aida will also be our new baby bear who will be a part of our adventure.

We observed how our children enjoyed playing in the water and set up fun water experiences every Water Wednesday. We went from washing toy trucks and animals, mixing water with sand, to watching others. Wash off the dirt & sand on their vehicles at the car wash. They love water so much that they learned how to wash their hands squishy clean, or they just love working on their sensory skills.
Our environment was also very active and had that in mind as we redecorated our room. We put an obstacle course inside the room where they can climb, slide down the ramp, go into the mini tunnel, then end up in the tipi where they loved hiding. We also offered an opportunity for the children to play in a long obstacle course outside and played there the whole morning.
The Bears group have always been a fan of animals. From small bees’ “zzzz” to big bear roars, we offered our friends books that would foster their language development. We had a lot of fun reading animal stories, imitating their sounds, and having dance parties and showing off our animal dance moves.
As we try to broaden and create our best animal impressions, we also try to materialize our imaginations and creativeness through arts. We saw the children have fun coloring animal pictures, painting with leaves and apple slices, and even made an art gift using paint and our fingertips.
At Splash we do our best to acknowledge our individuality and incorporate everyone's culture. Therefore, Bear Den had a blast celebrating the Jewish New Year by dipping apples in honey, reading books, listening to the Shofar (Ram's horn), and eating honey cake. We would like to give thanks to Murry Greenfeild, former Folklarama president, for coming as a guest to blow the shofar and share what
Rosh Hashanah all about.
We also have an on-going “act of kindness” event and are accepting shoes and / or clothing donations. We would love to offer an opportunity to our children to learn kindness, as well as give them an opportunity to help others in need. Our group will send our donations at the nearest donation box once we reach our goal.
