February here we come, busy month ahead featuring I love to read month, learning about Black History Month, and Valentine’s Day to celebrate our loved ones. Celebrating Splash birthdays as well as exploring outside and baking galore!
Last month, the children got back into routine after the holidays. To start off the new year, we said hello to a new bear and a “ see you later” to an old one.
We baked banana bread for others as an act of kindness and for us bears as an act of kindness haha. We explored the centre in the church, ULC and preschool when it was too cold to go outside. As much as we like to explore indoors, we explore outdoor outdoors every day with different opportunities. Sledding on the hill, hiding and finding toy animals in the “snow box”, finger painting at the park, kitchen play in the small yard, gross motor play and shovelling in the big yard, music and movement at the legislative building, and community walks!
January gave us hot chocolate day, bagel day, Lego day and so much more! The children are becoming so independent, washing their hands, putting away toys and putting on their outside gear, so many victories! We offered sensory play opportunities, although the children are busy bodies and prefer gross motor so adapted and gave them more experiences that involve moving their bodies.
Music and movement have been the children’s main interests as well as trajectory so we have curated play experiences to reflect that including the DJ dance parties and multiple ramps to slide cars and other toys down.

Please make sure that your children have the appropriate dress for this season to ensure that we can fully enjoy our play outdoors
Remember to bring your water and milk bottles, and take it by the end of the week to wash it at home
