Splash Early Learning Centre November 2025 Newsletter

December went by like a (cold) breeze! This last month and year brought many learning experiences and the Turtles welcomed and said goodbye to a few friends along the way. We can't wait to see what 2026 has in store for us!

This past month, the Turtles were interested in experimenting with water painting and used different brushes and sponges! We used different shaped sponges like hearts and flowers, and learned that water is first dark on the paper, and when absorbed, it becomes lighter! We also learned names of colours and how to wait our turn when another friend has the water.

Since December was the month of gift-giving, the Turtles painted their own popsicle stick truck ornaments with their picture on it! Each ornament was unique as the infants chose the colours themselves and us educators enjoyed the process of taking the children’s pictures and putting the gift together. We hope this fun and special keepsake lasts many years!

Speaking of Christmas, we were so excited to decorate our room with ornaments, Christmas trees, a Santa stocking, and window stickers! We would like to extend our warm thank you’s to our fellow ULC educator Zerlina and our supervisor Heather for lending Turtle Pond these decorations.

We have also been incorporating challenging obstacle courses into our activities, such as the intricate string web, which encourages children to engage in continuous development. These courses not only foster critical skills like problem solving but also enhance gross motor abilities as they navigate and overcome each challenge.

Since we love to reuse materials in our environment, we decided to reuse our coloured paper used for water painting to create a “matching colours” provocation. We laid out big popsicle sticks allowing the children to recognize colours and match them to the coloured paper. It was an awesome opportunity to learn names of colours in a fun and safe way!

We would like to express heartfelt gratitude to our supervisors, Heather and Jasmin, for gifting us a Frog and Toad book. The Turtles absolutely love looking at the pictures and enjoying the stories.

Furthermore, we are excited to celebrate New Year's Eve with our families, reflect on the memories we’ve made and embrace the chilly weather together. It will be a wonderful time to relax and start the new year with a fresh sense of excitement for what’s to come.

We would like to give our sincere gratitude to our Turtle Pond families for being patient and cooperative with us, and we hope 2026 will bring more fun and joyful memories. Cheers to the start of a new year!! 🎆

Please check your child’s daily reports (placed at the top shelf of the locker) at pickup.
Please take water bottles home every Friday to be deep cleaned and bring back on Monday.
