Hello Families!

November was a month that felt like both a beginning and an ending. We had amazing weather, and we soaked up every moment—the sunshine, the warmth, the gentle breeze, and our peaceful walks.

Throughout November, the days were filled with play, learning, and creativity. They explored sensory activities with fall leaves, playdough, and warm water bins while developing language skills through songs, stories, and group conversations. They created beautiful art using leaf prints, sponges, and textured materials. Whenever the weather allowed, we spent time outdoors; with walks to Dollarama and Safeway, collected leaves, ran, jumped, balanced, and appreciated the beauty of the season. We celebrated a Stepping Stone Ceremony, we cheered and sang “Happy Birthday” to our educators—of course, the treats at the end were delicious! We've observed so much growth in the Beavers group, which has us excited for the upcoming months.

We observed wonderful social development in the children, many children began offering friendly hugs and showed comfort toward peers who were upset. In fine motor development, the children showed strong interest in learning how to “buckle up.” Some older children even helped their peers buckle chairs. We introduced activities such as threading pipe cleaners through buttons, peeling tape, and mixing colours, which strengthened hand-eye coordination and persistence.

Some children became very skilled at building tall block towers. We encouraged imaginative play, we offered loose parts and watched what the children did.. One highlight was the children turned a large delivery box into a “cave house” which the children loved exploring together.

We included simple science experiences, used a cardboard ramp, the children slid the toy cars down and watched how they moved—giving them a hands-on way to explore gravity.

As we move into December, we are happy to welcome back Lesley—we missed her!

It will be a busy month ahead, and we will be excited for all the wonderful things to come. In early December, our focus will shift to winter and holiday activities that bring joy and excitement to the classroom. The children will be celebrating the holiday season by creating festive art and creating seasonal projects such as snowflakes, winter animals, and handprint art. We will include books about winter, kindness, and friendship. The music and movement activities will feature jingle bells, scarves, and festive songs to keep everyone active and engaged. We will begin working on family gifts, preparing for our PJ Party, and enjoying all the fun that winter brings.

We will also be eagerly awaiting the arrival of snow. Once it comes, we will explore it together—walking through it, rolling, sliding down small slopes, and bringing snow indoors for sensory play. The children will also paint with coloured water on the snow to spark creativity and curiosity. There are so many exciting ideas ahead!

Please prepare your child’s winter gear, as the weather will be getting much colder. Mittens, a warm hat, scarf, winter boots, and a snowsuit will help keep them comfortable and safe outdoors. Remember to take a look at the log book to check out what your child's day looked like. Milk and water bottles should be taken home every Friday.
