Downtown Community Safety Partnership
Hello March! We're excited for spring to come while February has been a wonderful month in the Wolf Den! We’ve been busy learning, exploring, and building connections together. We would also like to warmly welcome Josh or Joshua, our new educator, to the Wolf Den team, as Shaira is moving to support staff and will eventually be transitioning to Mino Pimaticiwin! Josh has already been building positive connections with the children and supporting their learning experiences. We are so glad to have him join us.
One of our favourite parts in February was welcoming guest readers into our classroom. The children loved having special visitors share stories, as it sparked so many meaningful conversations and imaginative play afterwards.
Our book-based activities have been a big hit! We explored:
- The Monster at the End of This Book — full of suspense, laughter, and dramatic page-turning!
- Mortimer — which inspired lots of singing, stair-stomping, and retelling of the story.
- The Rainbow Fish — leading to discussions about kindness, sharing, and friendship, along with some beautiful art experiences.
We’ve noticed a strong interest in trajectory play — throwing, rolling, dropping, sliding, and exploring how things move through space. Because this interest is emerging naturally from the children, we will be intentionally planning more experiences that support this type of play. Trajectory play helps develop coordination, spatial awareness, problem-solving skills, and early scientific thinking. We’re excited to see where this interest takes us!

We are currently accepting donations of empty spice jars for a fun upcoming project! If you have any clean, empty spice jars at home that you’d be willing to donate, we would greatly appreciate it.
If your child is going to be away, late, etc. please call the centre 204-560-5601 or email to splash@splashcares.ca/ jasmin@splashcares.ca
Please check your child’s locker daily for extra clothes, artwork, or any items needing attention. Layers and spare clothes are especially helpful as the weather changes.
Thank you all the parents for your contributions, support and for being a vital part of wolfden.
