Prioritize Safety Training and Safety Procedures
Remember to document student safety training and do the training before they start with tools.
Pick your Lab Space
Adequate Ventilation?
Enough electrical plugs?
Easy to Clean?
Too Noisy for other classes?
Outdoors is perfect, but weather is a factor
Choose Projects that will Engage your Students
Give students choice if you can.
Pick projects that are fun and challenging.Â
Chose projects that whose material costs and required tools match your situation.
Take Stock of the Tools will you have Available
You may need to book a 'Skill Set' from the SIEC OR purchase a class set of tools to complete these units.
Start small and then develop your tool collection to match your interests and growing skills.
