These lessons have been arranged to be taught in order, however dependent on what your students need please adjust them. They are meant to be taught over several days and additional examples can be added in to fit the content of your lessons and context of your students.
SRSD (Self-Regulated Strategy Development) is an evidence-based instructional approach that helps students become confident, organized, and effective writers. Developed through decades of research, this method combines explicit writing strategies with tools for self-regulation, so students not only write better — they take ownership of their process.
This presentation is meant to provide organization of the learning from the Think SRSD Releasing Writers Course.
It is designed to give grade K-3 teachers some of the strategies outlined in Think SRSD.
Lessons are meant to be taught over multiple days, adapting to the progress and support your students need.
The strategies outlined are to be introduced, modeled, and practiced as a whole class implementing a gradual release of responsibility as your students move to implementing these writing strategies in their independent writing.
