The PSSD Literacy Framework outlines that the literacy block must include daily: Foundational Skill Instruction (30 mins) followed by practice/intervention time, we are calling Responsive Instruction (30 mins). New concepts are meant to be taught over two days. In working with teachers, Day 1 is taking less time and Day 2 is taking more time. Here is a suggested day/week outline for how to fit these two literacy blocks in. Please note this plan does not include the daily expected Language Comprehension and Writing Instruction block (52 minutes).
