Estimation
Think about a classic jellybean guessing contest where a jar is filled with an unknown number of jellybeans and people guess the number. In this version, students are presented with an image and have to make an estimation. This activity provides students the opportunity to make a guess and then justify their answer based off some math they have done. Did students add? Did they multiply? When thinking is shared, students hear how others use their math skills to try to solve problems.
