Always/Sometimes/Never
This strategy involves giving students a (provocative) statement that could cause some debate. Students are asked to categorize it as “always true”, “sometimes true”, or “never true”. An example of this might be: “2x is greater than x + 2.” The debate gives teachers a chance to see what concepts students understand and where more learning might be helpful.
