Did you know #SPCSGoesFar

Springfield Platteview Community Schools (SPCS) has recently launched a digital campaign aimed at raising awareness of the school district's size. The campaign, which is expected to run for several months, can be followed using the hashtag #SPCSGoesFar. The school district serves an area that spans around 90 square miles, including people residing near Highway 75 to almost 204th Street (Hwy 6) who are part of our school district, and even land north of Highway 370. In short, Springfield Platteview School District goes far!

South Sarpy Cancer Fund Bowlathon Raised $2,938

The South Sarpy Cancer Fund Bowlathon took place on Wednesday afternoon, March 27, at Papio Bowl in Papillion. The Cancer Fund was established by a former PC/PHS teacher, Jay Rodenbough.  Jay, along with many of the Platteview High School staff at the time, lost two colleagues and friends in a short period to cancer.

Jay established a fund in 2005 to help provide funds to staff, students, and the community in our district who may have received a cancer diagnosis or are going through treatment.

Their primary fundraiser through the years was the Bowlathon where students raise funds through either a one-time donation or a "Per Pin" donation.  Because of the pandemic, the Bowlathon was not held for three years while the fund continued to write checks for all those who came to us.  Last and this year, they were able to hold the Bowlathon with our Seniors and were able to replenish the fund to a certain extent, but we are still in a situation of need.

The final dollar amount raised at the Bowlathon: $2,938. Thank you so much to everyone for your help!

Springfield Elementary Food Drive Was a Success

Springfield Elementary collected and delivered food and products to our local Methodist church food bank. Thank you to our student council, our students, our families, and our community for taking care of each other!

Congrats to Platteview High School and Nick Crouse

Our Platteview Strength & Speed program has been recognized as a Program of Excellence through the National High School Strength Coaches Association (NHSSCA).

This recognition is placed on programs that operate at the highest level of professionalism while also displaying excellence in safety, quality, efficacy, outreach, highlighting achievements of students, excellence in continuing education and utilizing technology in their program. Congratulations, Platteview High and Nick Crouse!

March Madness at Westmont Elementary

The Parent/Community Involvement Committee at Westmont Elementary has organized an event called March Math Madness. Every week, students are required to complete a worksheet, and upon completion, they are to put it in the designated "hoop" when they arrive at school. On Fridays, the committee draws names of the lucky winners who will receive prizes. It's an enjoyable way to celebrate March Madness. Here are the winners of the latest round.

PHS Speech Team Success

A group of talented students from PHS participated in the District Speech competition at the beginning of March. After a gap of four years, one student, Ada Heneger, qualified and attended the State competition on March 20 for both Poetry and POI. Congratulations to Ada for her achievement. The entire team deserves appreciation for a successful season!
