Course Title: Imagination Creation - Woodturning

Course Description: 

Goals:

1. Learn how to safely operate and identify the parts of a wood lathe.

2. Learn the tools of the trade and how to use them properly.

3. Create your own writing pen using the wood lathe.

This course begins with a brief discussion of woodshop safety and an explanation of the parts of a wood lathe. Next, participants will learn the correct methods of handling the tools of the trade. Finally, participants will create a writing pen of their own design using wood from an oak tree at Southwestern University.

Dates: June 3, 4, and 5

Time: Session I - 1:30 p.m. - 2:15 p.m. or Session II  2:30 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.
