Free School was created by Patrick Veerkamp, Emeritus Professor of Art, in the summer of 2000. Patrick's vision was to provide a way for Staff and Faculty to share their talents with others in a fun, community-building atmosphere. Classes have been held every summer other then 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This program is completely donation based. Consider giving to the Staff Support Fund by going to Thrive: The Campaign for Southwestern University.

'Free School' fue creada por Patrick Veerkamp, ​​profesor emérito de arte, en el verano de 2000. Staff Steering Committee

The Staff Steering Committee (SSC) is made up of twelve elected currently employed Southwestern University staff from the following divisions: Academic Support, Facilities Management, Student Life, and University Operations. Each elected member serves a term of three academic years. 

Additional committee members (voice, no vote) include an Administrative Liaison (Associate Vice President for Human Resources), a Student Liaison (Student Government Association), and two Ex Officio Retirees. 

Comité Directivo del Personal

El Comité Directivo del Personal (SSC) está compuesto por doce miembros del personal electos actualmente empleados de Southwestern University de las siguientes divisiones: 'Academic Support, Facilities Management, Student Life, and University Operations.' Cada miembro electo cumple un mandato de tres años académicos. 

Los miembros adicionales del comité (con voz, sin voto) incluyen un Enlace Administrativo (Vicepresidente Asociado de Recursos Humanos), un Enlace Estudiantil (Asociación de Gobierno Estudiantil) y dos Jubilados Ex Oficio.
