Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm

The Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm is a personal approach to inquiry that involves a five-step cycle shown below and described briefly here.

Known as “Ignatian” because rooted in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), these five elements together comprised (and continue to comprise) the essential components of Jesuits’ meditative practices and became integrated with the Jesuits’ approach to education in the schools they established around the world.

We also have assembled resources from a range of AJCU colleges and universities on the Ignatian pedagogical paradigm, a collection of short videos explaining the Ignatian pedagogical paradigm, and documents on the Ignatian pedagogical paradigm.
