University Core Assessment

The development and implementation of SLU's new University Core has been informed by a sustained and continuing commitment to assessment of general education.

SLU's University Core is built on our nine Core Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs). Each Core component area contributes to student achievement of our SLOs at either the introductory, developmental, or achievement level. You can learn more about our University Core learning outcomes and see a curricular map here.

Core assessment will be undertaken by SLU's Office of University Assessment in partnership with the University Undergraduate Core Committee (UUCC). Our first assessment project took place in the Fall 2021 - Spring 2022 academic year, when we conducted a targeted assessment of our Core Pilot. Our first full round of assessment took place over the 2022-23 academic year. You can find an overview of our Core Assessment plan with details on how we assessed our Fall 2021 Core Pilot. You can see the full University Core Assessment plan here.
