Lumi in Brightspace uses AI to help instructors come up with assignments, discussions, quiz questions and more!
Important: Please ensure that all content generated by Lumi is thoroughly reviewed for factual accuracy and clarity before presenting it to your students. While Lumi provides valuable ideas and suggestions, your expertise and judgment are crucial in making sure the information is appropriate and beneficial for your students' learning experience.

Make sure you start in Content
You should have existing materials such as HTML pages, Word Documents, PowerPoint presentations, etc (full list of what can be used).
Click the Upload/Create button and choose New Assignment.
Click on Generate Assignment Ideas.
Choose the Number of Ideas and a Bloom's Taxonomy level (or leave on Select Level if you don't want to utilize this feature).
Determine whether you want to include all existing materials in the module or select which activities you want included.
When ready, click Generate.
Sort through the ideas and choose which one you want to include in your Instructions by selecting Insert.

Click on Generate Discussion Ideas.

Determine whether you want to include all existing materials in the module or select which activities you want included.
When ready, click Generate.
Sort through the ideas and choose which one you want to include in your Instructions by selecting Insert.

At the top of the module, click on Add a description or the description text if there is one there already.
Click on Generate Summary.
Determine whether you want to include all existing materials in the module or select which activities you want included.
When ready, click Generate Summary.
Choose whether you want to include a student, module or instructor perspective and click on Insert.
Start in Quizzes under Other Course Tools, click on the Question Library tab.
Click on the Generate Questions button.
Determine your Content Source
Course Content: This will allow you to select a resource from Content (full list of what can be used is different from what was previously mentioned)
Custom Text: Copy and paste the source you want students to be assessed on.
Choose the Number of Ideas and the Question Type you want generated.
Pick a Bloom's Taxonomy level (or leave on Select Level if you don't want to utilize this feature).
Click Generate.
When your generated questions appear, click on the Pending Review for Question 1.
This will show you details on the question and what the right answer is.
Decide whether you want to include this question with Keep and Next.
Choose Discard and Next to trash this question.
Select Close This Question if you want to refer back to the other questions up for review.
Repeat process until all generated questions have been reviewed.
When you are all done, click on Save to Section.
You can Save to Current Section to remain in your body of questions.
Or you can Create New Section which will store them in a folder.
Now when you are editing a Quiz, you can click on Add Existing and select Browse Question Library.
All of the questions from your Question Library will appear here and any Lumi created questions will have an AI Generated tag under the question.
