If Lumi is not doing enough to help you create questions for an upcoming assessment, here is a guide on how to utilize an outside AI program and import it successfully into Brightspace.
It is recommended you utilize Gemini 2.5 Pro as the plain text it produces makes it easy to copy and paste into a csv file.
Important: Please ensure that all content generated by Gemini is thoroughly reviewed for factual accuracy and clarity before presenting it to your students. While Gemini provides valuable ideas and suggestions, your expertise and judgment are crucial in making sure the information is appropriate and beneficial for your students' learning experience.
Pick the style of question you want AI to help you with (MCQ, Ordering, etc)
Go to Gemini (make sure you are utilizing 2.5 Pro) include your template csv file and the text describing the content you want the questions to focus on.
Take the Code snippet generated and paste it into a Blank CSV File and rename the file.
Take your filled-out CSV file and go to your Brightspace Course > Other Course Tools > Quizzes > Question Library
Click the Import button, choose Upload a File and choose your filled-out CSV file.
Review your questions and select Import All when you are ready.
When you make a quiz, click on Add Existing, select Browse Question Library and choose your AI-generated questions.
You can always attach a PowerPoint, PDF or another document in your prompt so the quiz questions will be based on your content! (Don't forget you still need to upload the CSV file too).
Below are Prompts you can copy, paste and edit to make your own. The text in italics is what you should remove before interacting with AI.
In your prompts, you can always give more details on the course, unit and level of difficulty to get questions that better fit your needs.
You can also upload course material if you want that to be the focus of the questions.
For every question type, I have it generate at least 5 questions in case I want to delete a few.
The Template CSV Files you should download and upload with your prompt to produce exactly what you need for your Blank CSV File.
Each AI-generated question comes with hints and feedback (something Lumi can't do). If you don't want to include it, remove it from your CSV file.
