What I did
I have finished organizing all the words in the pages and translated all the pages into braille. I first translated all the words using the braille table given with the "Bollogi", which is the braille sticker machine. Then, I found some abbreviations that are used in braille and changed some of the braille I wrote. For the final check, I used the braille translator app to make sure that I didn't make any mistakes. I adjusted some of the translations I made with this app. Also, I have received the newly ordered paper, so I started adding all the materials on the new paper. I left about 2cm of space to the left because I will be binding the pages. I tried to make the sizes of the drawings and the materials added to the drawings as similar to the previous one because if this becomes smaller, it would loose the purpose of a texture book.
What I learned
I learned that there are lots of abbreviations used in braille. In Korean, there are final consonants and consonants, and they are used differently although they look the same and have the same sound. I thought in the beginning that it would be represented as the same letter in braille because it is written as the same letter, but it was actually two different braille words for the consonants and the final consonant. It was also interesting to see that if I decide to write the book in Korean but want to add a little English, I had to add braille indicators that show that it is the start of a English word and at the end I have to show that it is the end of the English word. As I was making the book, I found out that adding textures and including braille is difficult because each part takes up too much space. If I make the textures bigger, there is not much space for the braille and the book becomes too packed. I found the best way to include all these elements to the book with my mentor, but the process was challenging.
What I need to do next
I need to buy a little more materials for the pages that I added. It will include foam, fur, more zippers, and vinyls. After I have all the materials ready, I need to finalize my book with all the materials added to the book. Then, I have to laminate the book to make the book stronger. When I am done making the book, I need to bind it. After binding the book, I will talk with my mentor to check for any more corrections and finish the book. If the binding is done and the book is complete, I need to donate it to the braille library or send it to a visually impaired child so that they could enjoy reading books and learn from it.
