What I did
I have been searching for materials to use for my book. I have searched online and offline to find what best fits my work. As I talked with my mentor, she explained how all the materials should have and represent different textures. So, I went to stationary stores and art supply stores. There I found thick paper for the base of my book and laminating sheets for the paper to remain longer. I talked with my mentor and found materials that I never knew about. I found out about clay that feels rough when it is dry. I also found small knitted bags that I could use for my hat.
What I learned
I learned that there are many different types of paper and they differ in color, texture, and size. I found kent paper useful for my book because it is thick and I am able to add words without making it smearing into the other side of the paper. I also learned that when using the laminating sheets, I should not remove all of the paper behind because it may make air bubbles in the paper. It was the first time I found out about art supplies that I have never used. For example, the clay that has a rough texture like a rock, zippers that are not connected with clothes, and even small knitted bags that are originally used for the bottom of the chair.
What I need to do next
I need to use the materials I bought and start making my book. I will be using the kent paper by cutting holes and adding textures. I need to find ways to add the materials on the paper so that I doesn't fall off. I also need to make the book look clean so that the readers feel comfortable reading it. Before I put the materials on the book, I will make a few changes on the words I added in the book. I will also make a few changes in the location of the words and how I am going to write it.
