What I did
I have made a story board with a brief picture and words in the book. It is about the different views a child could have looking at the same object. I have chose the object to be a red hat. I tried to view in the eye of a child so everything I know could be seen in a different view. An obvious object in my eye could be something different for visually impaired children or children in general.
What I learned
I learned that the drawings in the book should all be explained in the writing since the visually impaired children will not understand the drawings if there is no explanation. I also found out that the textures I include in the pictures should be predictable. Just by feeling the picture, the visually impaired children should be able to know what it is. Although the children are not able to know the colors in the book, they are able to imagine what it would look like by feeling it.
What I need to do next
Now I need to find the objects that could give the texture that I want to show. Although my main theme is about a hat, it can be seen differently if it has different textures. For example, I am thinking of knitting the hat so that it could feel more like a hat worn in winter. On the next hat, I will add other textures to make it seem like another thing although it is the same hat on the outside.
