Day 2: Baskin Robbins, October 2, 2013

The adventure continues. Another shop within walking distance, in the heart of Rice Village. Say what you will about Baskin Robbins, but they offer such a wide variety of flavors. (The clown cones brought back childhood memories!) There were also many sundae, blizzard-esque, and shake offerings. After browsing the wide selection, I settled on Maui Brownie Madness. A single scoop ended up costing me $2.80.

The store was fairly busy for a Wednesday night. It also happened to be BOGO for sundaes. I sat outside the store on a bench and was able to watch the hub bub within the village.

I guess I rushed too hastily into the selection, because I missed the part about it being frozen yogurt. Whoops! But it featured chocolate frozen yogurt, pieces of brownie, macadamia nut, and ribbons of chocolate fudge.

The chocolate frozen yogurt was good, tasting nearly the same as a comparable ice cream counterpart. It was served at the right temperature, firm but still enjoyable from the first bite. Initially I was surprised at the amount of macadamia nuts in the dish. The pieces were small with the largest no bigger than a pea, but they were not evenly distributed throughout the dish. Some bites would have two or three chucks while others had zero. There were also plenty of brownie pieces; however, the brownie was unusually chewy and not my favorite at all. Finally the ribbons of chocolate fudge didn't stand out. Rather they remained a part of the background flavor, blending in with everything else.

Overall it was an enjoyable trip. Baskin Robbins offers a wide variety of options at very low prices, a great combination for family outings.

I need to get a better camera!
