Chuy's is a Tex-Mex chain restaurant, very popular in the Houston area. Went here to celebrate a friend's birthday.

Ordered: Complimentary Happy Hour chips with salsa, queso, beans, beef; Hatch Valley Chicken Enchiladas with green chile rice and refried beans; House margarita on the rocks

As part of the Happy Hour, one can load up on free chips with salsa, queso, beans, and beef. The queso stood out as the highlight of the free food. The beans and beef were good considering the price.

The house margarita was a good value as part of happy hour pricing. Drink size and alcohol content was appropriate.

Overall the enchiladas were a good selection. Two enchiladas were provided. There were a couple pieces of fatty chicken that should have been removed. The green chile cream sauce was delicious, although probably packed with calories. There could have been more green chiles topping the dish. The rice was an excellent accompaniment and use of the green chiles within the rice was a nice change of pace from the typical rice side dishes. The refried beans felt bland relative to everything else offered on the plate.

Portion size was slightly more than the typical individual should eat for a meal, but not overly huge. Pricing is reasonable, and I got out of there for about $20.00 including two drinks.

This restaurant is always crowded and finding parking can be a challenge during peak times. Be prepared to wait awhile for a table on weekends.

Overall a meal at Chuy's is a positive experience. With so many Tex-Mex restaurant choices available in the area, I would say Chuy's is a nice to visit once in awhile, but be sure to branch out and try the other establishments.
