Earthquake in ZCMC Compound
PEIS (PhilVolcs Earthquake Intensity Scale) - severity of shaking as felt and seen in ZCMC (not magnitude)
Intensity I - scarely perceptible
Intensity II - hanging objects swing lightly
Intensity III - hanging objects swing moderately.
Intensity IV - hanging objects swing considerably.
Intensity V - hanging objects swing violently.
Intensity VI - furnitures and heavy objects are displaced; wall plaster cracked
Intensity VII - furnitures and heavy objects overturned or toppled; difficulty standing by people
Intensity VIII - very destructive; many people have difficulty standing up; many well-built buildings are considerably damaged.
Intensity IX - devastating - people are forced to the ground; most buildings are totally damaged.
Intensity X - completely devastating - practically all man-made structures are destroyed
Assessment of PEIS and implications:
Intensity II to III - to wait and watch.
Intensity IV to V - to duck, cover and hold and to protect patients from falling debris and objects.
Intensity VI to VII - to evacuate the building; more so, if with Intensity VIII to X.
