Worker skills

If your operation requires skill-differentiation, each worker must be assigned a skill set from the list you prepared (see previous page of this manual).

WoShi furnishes two distinct approaches for grouping together employees and their corresponding skill-sets.

The three tabs that appear in this section.are the following :

    • Approach number one: Assigning employees to given skill-sets

    • Approach number two: Assign skills to individual employees

    • View Deactivated skill-sets of individual employees

Employees to given skill-sets

When you decide to add new skill designations to employees---or to edit an existing one---please click on the pen icon; then proceed to add a new entry by clicking on the ‘‘+’’ icon, or---alternatively--- to alter an existing entry by clicking on the pen icon.

Skills to worker

In the image below, the ‘‘Skills to worker’’ tab is opened. In this tab, we first select an employee, and then attach skill-sets to that employee.

Inactive worker skills

The rightmost tab (labeled: ‘‘Inactive worker skills’’) contains deactivated employees. It is from here, that you may reactivate employees whom you wish to have available for scheduling.

How much the priority setting for a worker-skill pairing affects, into which post the worker will be sorted, will ultimately depend on how high you set the global priority for this particular weight group.

Given that you will use the default weight settings, or something very similar, WoShi will swap skills to make overall better schedule. If you don't wish the skills to be swapped, then these priorities must be very different.

Which worker will be the first choice for a replacement of another in his primary role? The one with the second highest priority for the given role. The table in the image above: The two entries for the two separate skill sets of Anatoly, have the following priority settings:

  • Doctor - 1 (the highest)

  • Nurse - 200

Or imagine, that you employ two doctors, Stojan and Simona, and then assign "nurse" as the secondary skill-set to both of them, with priority modifier 100 for both of them.

Now imagine, that you have too few "actual" nurses on payroll, to fill every last shift that calls for one or more nurse (Or in other words: To cover the entirety of your demand for the kind of work that nurses preform), but not by quite a high enough margin, to warrant employing another nurse altogether; will equally likely assign Stojan or Simona to the nurse shift. Whereas, if you give Simona nurse priority 1000, then Stojan, having the lower modifier(100), will almost always be called in as a nurse, in situations where WoShi will be considering both of them, for the role of stepping in for an absent or non-existent nurse.
