Laura Janine Friedman was born September 28, 1950 to Arnold Friedman and Dorothy Virginia Thompson
While a student at New York University, studying to complete her Doctorate in Psychology, she took an internship at Brooklyn State Hospital. Working as staff psychologist on Ward 22, a locked, long term care ward she met Dana working as a Therapy Aide.
In 1978, on July 15 she and Dana married in Cornwall, Connecticut. They lived in Park Slope, Brooklyn where Ashley Karen Beecher was born on October 26, 1984. They lived on the top floor of a three story walk-up and in the spring of 1988, when Laura was pregnant, she broke her leg taking Ashley to Day School. As the spring turned into Summer, Laura was a trooper getting to the third floor, pregnant, in a heat wave that hit that August. When September rolled around her cast came off a week before the birth of Benjamin David Beecher on September 8, 1988.
In 1989 the whole family moved to Port Washington, on the North Shore of Long Island. The Baxter Estates area of Port Washington was the perfect setting for the family. Dana could walk to the train station to reach his job in Brooklyn and Laura worked as the school psychologist at EAC.
In the Autumn of 1994 they decided to go their separate ways and Laura, Ashley and Ben continued to live in Port Washington.
