Community Meeting Success

The WCAG Community meeting at the Wamboin Hall on 13th December 2017 attracted an enormous crowd. With an excess of 150 people, the hall was packed to capacity with standing room only. At the meeting, we presented to the community the 3rd party provider that we have been in discussions with about building a community fibre network for the Wamboin, Bywong and Sutton regions: SmartFarmNet (SFN).

SFN presented their proposal for a fast, scalable, reliable and affordable network tailored to our area.

Importantly, they discussed their indicative pricing model, the structure of their contract and the community shareholding aspects.

The bottom line, was that the are offering symmetric, high-speed, fibre connections with no download data limits at comparable pricing to slow, restricted data and intermittent existing offerings

This was followed by an extensive Q&A session.

Where to from here?

First and foremost, ensure you are joined up to WCAG for general project updates:

We also need you to ensure your neighbours are signed up. Construction will not commence until the community obtains agreement from enough residents (preferably with adjacent properties) to make this project operationally and financially viable. If you want to talk to your neighbours, we have prepared a short summary flyer that you can print out and take with you (or send them via email). See below.
