Usage of Venice's One Hour Parking System

This past Tuesday the Move Team set out to collect data on the use and effectiveness of the one hour parking spot system. The team observed 10 of the 52 riva without daytime restrictions for 5 hours, visiting every half hour recording if the spot was being used, whether or not the spot and boat had the proper decals and signs, and taking a picture of each boat observed.

Based on this data collection, the team found that many of the parking spots were either not used at all or used for much longer than the 1 hour limit. In addition, many spots were missing the required signs and none of the observed boats had the required disco orario. Despite being present in multiple ordinances, it is unclear at this time if these decals are currently in circulation.
