Can you really get to Venice by car?

The Ponte della Libertà is a bridge that connects Venice to the mainland. It allows for cars to travel to and from Venice. However, after crossing the bridge you must park in a garage for around 20 euros or get dropped off and turn around. This parking is limited and not efficient for long term parking.

Say I worked for a company that operated out of Venice, and I wanted to drive to work every day. There is a discounted rate for multiple day parking, but it is not feasible for all the employees of a business. The lots would fill and there would be no more room for anyone else. This road was an attempt at making Venice accessible by car. However, with the parking limitations, it became inconvenient for businesses to operate in Venice. Overall, this road allows for travel to and from Venice, but once you arrive, you are on your feet. There are now water taxis and boats, but money becomes a factor yet again.

Can you survive as a business in Venice if employees that do not live on the island must go through such strenuous procedures to get to work? Speaking from common sense, if something is not convenient, people will find something that is and go with that. Hopefully by gathering more information, we will find convenient alternatives that are feasible and beneficial to Venice as a whole.
