Week 7: Almost to the End!

Post date: Dec 12, 2012 3:1:42 PM

This is our second to last week here in Venice and although we are all sad to be leaving, we are all thankful to be finishing up our projects. That being said, there was and still is a lot of work to be done before we can say that we are finished.

This week we finalized our presentation. It is now 97 slides long and should take us around 25-30 minutes to go through. On Monday we have to do a mock presentation in front of Fabio and Zeugner to see if there are any last minute changes that we have for our presentation in front of UNESCO on Tuesday.

We also made our final report a couple of pages longer by adding the analysis sections to it and then adding the conclusions and recommendations. Basically we analysed the damage score equation and explained how we divided it up, and went through some correlations on how the floor heights have an impact on the damage of the artifact due to flooding. We also talked about how the Venipedia pages would make alll of our information available to the public and how this could change the preservation of the artifacts. In the recommendations, we suggested a few churches that should probably be revisited, for example the churches that were last visited ten years ago since they had now received ten years of new damage.

CSV files and the City Knowledge Console took up the rest of the week. We worked on finalizing our CSV files (for churches and then for the artifacts) for upload and Venipedia page creation. This entailed continual contact with Benny Lichtner in order to work out the kinks and flaws with CK.
