Week 6: Back to Work

Post date: Dec 12, 2012 2:42:53 PM

Now that Thanksgiving break was over, it was time to get back to work. However, we decided to take an extra day of break on Monday since some of us were either getting back very late on Sunday night or early on Monday morning, Meghan decided to be productive and help the Streets Team count that morning.

Now that the equation has been finalized, we decided that it should be broken up into 5 different sections or bins. The first group was called excessive damage because the artifacts in this group had received so much damage that all of the inscriptions on them have been lost and there is not much that can be done to save them. The second group was named high damage because those artifacts had received an extensive amount of damage however the inscriptions could still be saved if actions were taken soon. Then there was the Intermediate group which was a group of artifacts where the inscriptions were still legible. After that comes a group of low damage artifacts. These artifacts were artifacts that had minor blemishes but the inscriptions and art on them were still visible and in no danger of fading away in the near future. Last, there was a group called minimal damage. These artifacts had received basically no damage at all.

Over the course of the week we also had a few meeting with professor Carrera and Zeugner in order to discuss our final presentation that we will be giving in two weeks time. The order has to be changed up a little so that there is a better flow and we have to have a little more background information on previous IQP teams. There was also a lot of work done on our final report.

There were also some significant events that happened outside of the project itself. On Wednesday the 28th there was an acqua alta flood of 130 cm and with all of that rain and water, Kevin's backpack started growing some mold. Thankfully, with a quick wash, it went away. We also met with a camera man along with the bells team so that he could video tape us doing our project work for the Admission's office.
