Congratulations, you're making progress; you've now filled out the paperwork and acquired many of the tools necessary to function in the Army.
It's now time to take the next step. One of my favorite quotes is from Henri Bergson: "The eye sees only what the mind is prepared to comprehend." You have two choices at this point, you can step back and let the world of the officer unfold in front of you, taking it as it comes, learning by trial and error, or you can be assertive and use the many resources available to build your knowledge base and proactively become a more competent soldier and leader.
I think you know what I would suggest. If you're interested in "being the best that you can be" start by reviewing the documents in this subsection. I have also included many educational websites in the "Useful Websites" section for you to expand your knowledge base.
If your interested in Army leadership, purchase the Army Officers Guide, and the U.S. Army Leadership Field Manual. Links to Amazon listings for these books can be found below.
If you want more classroom training, talk to your Readiness NCO, he or she will be able to assist you. After Officer Basic Leadership Course Reserve Component (OBLC-RC) if you have time, it is a good idea to fit in the Captains Career Course. If you are a physician, this course is not necissary for promotion to captain, but the skills you gain will develop you into a more competent officer.
