Update: because a physician must be USAREC certified to collect HPLR, HPLR cannot be taken during residency unless taken with STRAP after the second year of residency: it is not enough to be state certified by the Federation of State Medical Boards. A physican becomes USAREC certified when they complete residency training and are board certified.
When viewing the presentations, below, in the attachment section, please keep the following information in mind:
An officer can only take a bonus for 19 years (this is reflected in the presentation)
The ASR pay listed in the presentation ($3808) is for a Second Lieutenant in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I did not account for pay increases due to promotion or annual pay raise. For this reason, the calculated grand totals are a bit on the low side.
If you would like to calculate the ASR pay for your hometown/medical school, visit the military compensation website, and enter your information into the military compensation calculator.
More detailed Basic allowance for Housing estimates can be found At the Department of Defense website.
I did not include drill pay into the grand totals. If you would like to determine how much you would make while drilling, click here and select reserve pay table. Please note, you will not recieve drill pay while in the ASR program.
