Welcome all,
Residents to the Wards! Where medicine is learned and doctors are made.
Healthcare providers should clean their hands before and after every patient contact to protect themselves as well as their patients from infections.
Team Organization
Two interns (PGY-1)
One senior resident (either PGY-2 or PGY-3)
All ward teams care for patients with both general medical and sub-specialty problems across the full age range from adolescence to the elderly. Resident teams develop diagnostic and therapeutic management plans in collaboration with the attending physician through daily evaluation and discussion.
Admissions
Call schedule is based on the Trickle System, which is a four day cycle – Early, Middle, Late, and Golden Call.
Early, Middle, and Late refer to the time of the day the team performs admissions, while Golden is a day with no admissions.
Specifics
Length of rotation is 2-4 weeks. Team members will have one day off per week when averaged over the month. Patients managed on the General Medicine Wards Services at UF Health or MRVAMC include those from clinics or the ER and patients referred/transferred from outside physicians/facilities.
