This is a message from Lisa Bagwell who is in charge of the community garden build. The Liberty Street Community Garden build is on Sat, April 27 from 8-4pm at the corner of Liberty Street and Union in Long Branch NJ. Here is a list of items we can use for the build:

Cardboard-lots of it! (pile up at the back of the property)

Straw

Bagged leaves

Dried grass clippings

Compost

Good soil (any old bags lying around?)

Nice wood pallets

Perennials (divided from your yard!)

Vegetable seed (old stuff is all right)

Wheelbarrow

Shovel

Rake

Gloves

Water

Your back

Cardboard, Straw, bagged leaves and dry grass clippings can all be piled up at the back of the property to be used on the day. As the weather warms and you clear your yard take note of those plants you can divide out and bag up any leaves we can use to build soil.

Thanks to the Master Gardeners of Monmouth County. They will be donating several varieties of fruit trees to be planted on the property. Also to be planted are trees from the NJ Tree Foundations Arbor Day program. There may be extra trees to spare if anyone is interested.

Bring yourself, bring a friend!
