The garden is 50 x 80 feet surrounded by an 8 foot tall deer proof fence (generously paid for by Friends of Holmdel Open Space). Single plots are 4 ft x 8.5 ft for $15 for the growing season of May 1st - November 1st. Double plots are 4 ft x 17 ft for $30.
Two plots run by Matthew Conlan of the Holmdel High School Eco-Club and the Conlan family have provided enough produce to give 7 donations to St. John's food pantry in Hazlet. Several gardeners also chipped in and gave swiss chard and tomatoes towards the Eco clubs donation to the food pantry. Eco Club funded hex wire installation and provided labor for the installation, helped lay paths and weeded and assisted with mulching.
Several Scouts did an excellent job with their Eagle Scout projects and provided the garden with: a perimeter garden complete with edging and perennials, a weather prrof resin tool shed, 4 wheelchair accessible raised beds and a path, two large, beautiful picnic tables and 4 bird houses. One scout project remains to provide the garden with an information kiosk.
