Wilson Takes the Reigns, Jaguars Finish at 5-5

Coming off a win less season, the 1985 season began with long time assistant George Wilson taking over the team. The season began with a huge win over formidable Mount Pleasant, as the Jaguars finish a much improved 5-5. The Jaguars played tough taking the momentum from the Mount Pleasant game, and looking to restore the TJ tradition.

Record-breaking quarterback Mark Brubaker recalls in a local paper, "during a pep rally students held up newspapers to show disinterest, and we do not want that to happen again." The Jaguars set out for improvement in the win column and they did.

Offensively, things started with Brubaker, but the emergenge of an improved offensive line lead by Ricky Voss and Tim Andrews, a healthy running back in Dave Holzworth, and the emergence of Mike Van Bibber had the offense going in the right direction.

Defensively, the team was much improved from a year earlier with a total team effort allowing 16.5 points per game.
