Jaguars Finish Out of the Playoffs

The 1977 Jaguars led by head coach Bap Manzini may have been one of the best teams never to make the playoffs in TJ history.  They fell short in the final game of the season in one of the greatest games in the history of Thomas Jefferson Football.

An unforgettable game at the end of 1977 was against the Monesson Greyhounds. They featured the super combination of Reggie Allen and Julius Dawkins. In a game of unforgettable plays, the Greyhounds triumphed 44-35. The final score does not do justice, however, to what fans witnessed. Long touchdown passes from Allen to Dawkins were countered by electrifying runs by Giansante, who scored five touchdowns. Both teams were literally unstoppable that evening! This is considered to be one of the all-time great Jaguar football games.

The Jaguars were led offensively by Jim Giansante who broke the all-time single season rushing record, as well as the touchdown mark. The quarterback was Bill Krahe with his terrific ball handling, and the offensive line was relentless.
