1981
Win Conference With New Coach Phil Reynolds

The 1981 Jaguars and new head coach Phil Reynolds became the judge and jury, and left no doubt the TJ tradition will continue. Coach Reynolds, a long time assistant to Manzini, took the reigns and
successfully followed in the lines of great teams of the past. The team returned just one starter in Jeff Callahan and three other letter men, but the the cupboard was not bare and Reynolds and his coaching staff did a wonderful job of pulling the team together.
Finishing with a record of 8-3, and for the first time since 1971 won the Big Nine Conference Championship. The starting lineup consisted mostly of seniors ,with the exception of some highly talented juniors, the whole team pulled together into a family. Which helped to develop an important sense of unity on and off the field.

Defensively, the Jaguars were as stout as ever led by Tom Geigerich, Mike Svac,...
Unfortunately, in the first round of the playoffs the Jaguars were up against a team with overpowering size. Mount Pleasant line averaged 6' and 200 lbs. When it was all over the final score was 28-6 Mount Pleasant.
