The World Rivers Campaign

Seeking Adventurers

History is marked by the Sundering; an event that occurred at the end of the last era which saw the Sun itself split open as aberrations from the Far Realm spilled into this world and infected it with their madness. The Shadowfell is spreading from a tear in the fabric of reality and the weave is unraveling all over the world. Civilization is ruled by warlocks who subjugate the masses from the crumbling husks of ancient cities. Demon Lords and Elemental Princes vie for control as the sky begins to fall and an ancient phrase reminds the people to "Fear the Stars."

Now is the time for warriors wielding the Old Magics to rise and reclaim the world that once was.

The Lore

This world is a continuation of two previous campaigns; The Rise of Night and The Auction of Souls.

In the Rise of Night, the cult of Night was successful in summoning the Avatar of Void to the world. The heroes ended this catastrophe but not without sacrifice. These events set the stage for the next story.

In the Auction of Souls, a villain by the name of Vartu (first introduced in The Rise of Night) rose to power and set into motion plans that were prepared eons ago. His goal was to assist his master, the Great Old One, Timore Ex Astrum, in ending his exile to the Far Realm and retake the world which it considers its birthright. The heroes were victorious and were able to stop the return of the exile, but, the world had already suffered great loss.

In the current campaign, new heroes will rise in the wake of the Exile's attempts and try to restore order to a dying world.

The Rules

This game uses the Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition rules. Click Here to see a list of current house rules. We primarily use the 3 core books (Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, Monster Manual) as well as Volo's Guide, Xanathar's Guide to Everything, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything and Mordenkainens Tome of Foes. There are occasional references to other published titles as well. We do not use Unearthed Arcana.

The rules and world are not directly tied together. The world has a unique pantheon of human gods and uses the Forgotten Realms gods for the demi-human and monstrous races. The game may start off in a medieval world but could end up on another world, in another dimension or in another time and place. I like to keep my options open for story telling.
