The two Running Backs, "ALLEN" and "JACKSON", are the core of the team and they display incredible strength as their running plays unfold. Their defense is tough.
Quarterback – Jay Schroeder – Not much of an arm or scrambling ability but the Los Angeles passing plays make that irrelevant. I think it’s safe to say he throws the most incomplete passes in the game, especially when it comes to deep bombs down field.
Running Back – Bo Jackson – Bo Knows being the fastest running back in the game. Easily the most talented back, and famous player in Tecmo Bowl. Bo is a force of nature who would rip the league up if not for LA’s shoddy running playbook. It’s a shame really.
Running Back 2 – Marcus Allen – Has good speed, and solid overall skills that would make him a very good #1 running back on other teams. But on LA he’s just taking a play away from Bo Jackson. Whether or not that matters thanks to LA’s ridiculous blocking scheme is up for debate now, but damn it would be cool to see Bo Jackson with two running plays.
Receiving Corps – Tim Brown, Todd Christensen – Tecmo’s most talent overall receiving core. LA’s receivers have tons of speed and play making ability. Tim Brown is only behind Jerry Rice when it comes to wide receiver skills, and it’s the same case for Christensen at tight end, only New York’s Bavaro has more talent at the position. Marcus Allen is also a receiver on both LA’s passing plays adding even more speed, cuts, and jukes to LA’s air attack. Sadly it really doesn’t matter at all since the defense can call Pass 1 every time and not have to worry about LA’s pass attack at all. It’s a shame to see this much talent not be able to do anything because of the flawed playbook.
Offensive Line – Charley Hannah, Don Mosebar, Dean Miraldi, Steve Wright – No real talent at all here. Only Mosebar is above the minimum talent level, and his only talent is an insignificant amount of extra power above the basement.
Defense – LA’s defense is short on gamebreakers, has guys in non-optimal positions and relys heavily on the inconsistent play of Howie Long. Long anchors the defense from left end, and can do an admirable job against most teams. He doesn’t really get a lot of help however. Bill Pickel is a nice player but being at nose tackle take him out of most plays, their linebackers, while not terrible, certainly aren’t go-to guys. Mike Haynes at safety is a decent role player, but overall this unit has too many guys just below the difference-maker level of talent, and has their better players in awkward positions. You need to be ready to battle to keep teams off the board when you’re LA.
Kick Returner – Tim Brown – His stats and skills are wildly under stated, as Tim Brown is easily the 3rd best kick returner in Tecmo Bowl, behind only Gentry and McNeil. While he’s not the threat of those two, he is more then capable of a big return or taking it all the way. Very helpful for LA.
Kicker – Chris Bahr – About the average Tecmo Bowl kicker, Bahr can hit from about 42 yards. You really can’t complain about Bahr’s kicking. But on the negative side he has worse stats then his brother Matt.
Punter – Stan Talley – He is just about the average Tecmo Bowl punter. Not hurting the team, but not really helping that much either. Can punt it about 65 yards.
Star Player - Howie Long – Bo Jackson is far and away the most talented player on Los Angeles, but it’s up to Howie Long win games for them. The offense is crippled so it is all on the defense to step up, and Long is their go-to guy. He can deliver but is maddeningly inconsistent in his performances.
Overall – Loaded with talent but it really doesn’t matter. Their offense is crippled, their defense is just adequate, and their special teams are average, outside of Tim Brown. It’s certainly not a winning formula. It hurts to say it, but Los Angeles is a bottom four team.
