Dallas

Although a traditionally strong team, last season they seemed to weaken. But never count them out. This year with Running Back "WALKER", they aim to make a comeback.

Quarterback – Danny White – One of the worst quarterbacks in the game, with a terrible arm and no speed in the pocket, you could argue White is only ahead of Jack Trudeau in terms of talent. Other quarterbacks have about equally weak arm strength as White, but unlike some of those other teams Dallas needs to make hay with their passing game to win games. Danny White really hurts this team, and it’s an experience to watch him lob an easily completed pass for a normal quarterback into the hands of a defender for the backbreaking interception.

Running Back – Herschel Walker – A very talented running back capable of big plays, and plenty of solid gains. He demands respect from opposing defenses and really carries this Dallas team. Walker has good speed and devastating power, capable of making popcorn and causing plenty of havoc. He is a very good player, just a tinge behind killers like Dickerson and Payton.

Receiving Corps – Mike Renfro, Kelvin Edwards, Doug Cosbie – An absolutely pathetic group of receivers, not one guy above the minimal talent level. This unit is tied with Denver for worst in the game. None of these guys will be getting any YAC, really cutting down on Dallas’ ability to pick up cheap 1st downs.

Offensive Line – Nate Newton, Tom Rafferty, Crawford Ker, Kevin Gogan – All bare minimum talent guys, meaning Dallas is tied with New York and Seattle for the honour of being the worst offensive line in the game. The Dallas offensive line sucking fits in nicely with the rest of the franchise.

Defense – This is easily the least talented and worst defense in all of Tecmo Bowl. There are no stars, or even standouts on this unit. Because of their positions the right end Jim Jeffcoat and top safety Ron Francis are the go-to guys to try to hold things together on defense but they really can’t do much with their limited speed and ability. The rest of the defense is comprised of total filler, with an unprecedented six of the nine players having the minimum talent level. Dallas really struggles to stop anybody; it’s really a very ugly situation.

Kick Returner – Robert Lavette – A lot like a lite version of Denver’s Bell or Indianapolis’ Bentley, Lavette is nothing special but isn’t as terrible as some of the other kick returners. Getting out to the 30-yard line is big for Lavette and other teams don’t need to fear him at all.

Kicker – Roger Ruzek – One of the better kickers in the game Ruzek can deliver some long clutch kicks for Dallas. He’s the 4th best kicker, capable of hitting from the 44-yard line. You can’t ask for much more from your kicker.

Punter – Mike Saxon – The third worst punter in the game Saxon really prevents Dallas from winning any field position battles. His maximum distance is about 61 yards, which is a full 10 yards less then the good punters.

Star Player – Herschel Walker – The only player with real talent on Dallas, Walker is easily their star. Without him to carry the offense this team would be dead in the water. Walker is a top flight back capable of giving all defenses a hard time, and opens up the passing game because the defense is respecting the run. Walker is also featured heavily as a receiving threat in their shotgun play.

Overall – Dallas has the worst personal in the game. By far. They have no talent on defense, weak special teams, and the only worthwhile player on offense is Walker. This is really a very awful team. The ineptness of the wide receiver reverse play is the only thing preventing Dallas from being undeniably the worst team in Tecmo Bowl by a huge margin. To win games Dallas really has to battle, and have a good day on offense, otherwise they are just going to get beatdown by almost every team.
