Indianapolis

This team has great defensive power. Their weak passing attack is made up for by their running ability.

Quarterback – Jack Trudeau – The worst quarterback in Tecmo Bowl, Trudeau is infamous for his woman arm and rainmaking passes. Luckily for Indy their playbook features passing plays that have huge separation between receivers, allowing Trudeau to actually complete passes. With a normal playbook Indy’s passing attack would be useless, as there’s no way Trudeau could land passes, but as it is they can do fine, despite Trudeau.

Running Back – Eric Dickerson – Is an absolute terror for opposing defenses with his blinding speed and great plays. No running back in the game forces the defense to call more run then E.D. and it allows Indy to go on plenty of sustained drives down field with short passes. Dickerson is also a tremendous weak-side runner, as he can regularly gain three, four or five yards going to the weak side. This is big against weaker defenses, and gives Indy a very dangerous attack. Eric Dickerson lacks the power of other running backs but makes up for it in spades with his Bo-esque speed and game-breaking ability.

Receiving Corps - Matt Bouza, Bill Brooks, Pat Beach – Pretty poor on talent this group doesn’t do much to help Indy’s chances of winning. Bouza is your average Tecmo Bowl wide receiver, and is the best of the bunch. Brooks has the worst acceleration rating in the game of the offensive players by a ridiculously wide margin, but he gets off since he’s Tecmo’s working class hero. Pat Beach is pretty non-descript, outside of having to get his own rule thanks to Indy’s complex Pass 1. Overall this receiving core is weak and brings nothing to the table.

Offensive Line - Ron Solt, Ray Donaldson, Ben Utt, Chris Hinton – Statistically the best offensive line in the game. Donaldson and Solt are 2nd and 4th in power respectively among offensive lineman. These two help give Indianapolis the fastest and strongest overall offensive line. Hinton adds above average speed to the group, and while Utt is in the basement skill wise this group is very strong as a whole and gets the number one offensive line rating.

Defense – The ultimate working class defense, or as Brad would say a "put one kid through college" defense. Indy is short on star power but has enough talent in the right places to do a lot of bending and keep the breaking to a minimum. Bickett anchors the defense from his bottom outside linebacker position and is the general go-to guy. He’s not LT, but can get it done. Odom, Hand and Robinson provide solid play from key positions, allowing the defense to mix things up with different looks and play call combinations. This unit isn’t going to overwhelm anybody but a hard working player can make it effective enough to hold offenses off long enough to win the game.

Kick Returner – Albert Bentley – For a guy with such little skill he does pretty well. He’s certainly not a game-breaker but returns to the 30 aren’t all that uncommon and he has the ability to break off a big return into opposing territory every once in a while. And it’s that type of stuff that helped earn him his nickname, Get.

Kicker – Dean Biasucci – Tecmo Bowl’s best field goal kicker can hit up to 46 yards. Biasucci is the guy you want when you need that long field goal with time running out with the game on the line. Being able to hit deep field goals makes things even easier on Indianapolis’ already very good offense, and is a very nice asset for the team.

Punter – Rohn Stark – An excellent punter, Stark is the second best in the game. The big leg of Rohn can punt the ball over 70 yards and gives Indy a very good weapon in the field position game. This is big for Indy when they run into a good defense as the Indy defense needs all the field position it can get it’s hands on so it can just bend and not break.

Star Player – Eric Dickerson – Far and a way the star player for Indianapolis, E.D. is the franchise player on whom Indy relies heavily. Eric Dickerson is a dangerous man, who gets respect from every defense in the game. And rightfully so.

Overall – Indianapolis is weak on star power, outside of Dickerson, but does enough little things well to be considered a top half team in Tecmo Bowl. Yes, Indy has come a long way. Their special teams are tremendous featuring the best kicker, and the second best punter and field goal blocker in the game. The defense can slow just about everyone down and their offense is very powerful thanks to a great playbook and Eric Dickerson. Overall Indy is a solid team capable of beating anyone if you put in the hard work.
