Door County Library Sponsors Earth Day Speaker at Sustainability Fair, April 24, 2010

Paul Wozniak, author of Beyond Earth Day: Fulfilling the Promise, co-written with Susan Campbell and Wisconsin's late Senator Gaylord Nelson, founder of Earth Day, will be one of the speakers at the 2010 Door County Sustainability Fair to be held on Saturday, April 24th at Crossroads at Big Creek.

This year is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, and to mark the occasion, the Door County Library and Sustain Door, have collaborated to bring Wozniak to Door County to speak on the topic of Wisconsin's environmental history, including Door County's own past conservation leaders.

The Library will display at the Fair some items from its Green Resources Collection, including instructions on how to use its online ecology databases (www.doorcountylibrary.org). Door County Library director, Becca Berger said, "We are happy to bring Paul Wozniak to the Sustainability Fair to create awareness of our collection of resources about sustainability." The collection includes selections recommended by Sustain Door and is part of the Lakeshore Environmental Resource Network Center for Community Engagement.

The Sustainability Fair is a forum to learn about meeting present needs using local resources while preserving the ability of future generations to meet theirs. In addition to Wozniak's talk, there will be other presentations, vendors and exhibitors of local products and services, local foods, and activities for all ages.

The Fair will be conducted from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm in the Collins Learning Center, in the Historical Village buildings, and on the grounds at Crossroads at Big Creek, intersection of Hwys 57/42 and Michigan in Sturgeon Bay.
