On 2 October 2004, I participated in the "Open Access Scholarly Publishers" panel of the Symposium on Open Access and Digital Preservation at Emory University (Atlanta, GA). I was asked to speak about the Molecular Vision experience and perspective on digital preservation. Each participant was given time to present prepared comments and then the panel answered questions. My comments focused on the two sides of digital preservation: physical preservation and logical preservation. Physical preservation assures the continued existence of the bit stream ("content") while logical preservation assures that the bit stream can be interpreted. The remainder of my talk covered how Molecular Vision has addressed these challenges. The slides from the prepared portion of the presentation are available for download in Open Document Presentation (.odp) format.
