The Vishnu system's one sun, Vishnu, is somewhat small and dim. Its planets orbit close to it, so travel within the system is fairly easy. There are nine planets in the system.
Current status unknown. An alien attack destroyed The Ashram, Labrys City, and most of the population on Shiva. The Vishnan navy was involved.
Planet 1 - Vamana
Type: Dwarf planet
Atmosphere: Incapable of supporting life
Gravity: 0.1
-----
Planet 2 - Kurma
Type: Dwarf planet
Atmosphere: Incapable of supporting life
Gravity: 0.08
-----
Planet 3 - Shiva
Type: Terrestrial
Primary Terrain: Barren (5% water coverage)
Atmosphere: Breathable
Gravity: 1
This is one of those rare and precious planets where a human can step out of their spaceship and go for a walk, breathing comfortably and not dying. However it is extremely arid; terraforming is underway, which mostly consists of bringing water from Planet 5, Ganga, and using it to grow things. The native plant and animal-life is relatively sparse; there are many varieties of scorpion-like insects, and various species of lizard-like animals, the largest of which mass about 400 grams.
Population currently stands at 500 thousand. 95% of the current population was born off-planet. The city around the spaceport has a population of 200 thousand, and the rest are scattered around the planet in tiny towns and isolated homesteads. 15% of the entire population works in water transportation.
Shiva is owned by the Big Sky corporation. The lure of Shiva isn't its current state, but what it promises. With more water, currently being shipped in from Ganga, it may well be a paradise.
The gateway to Shiva is The Ashram, a space station recently bought out by the Big Sky corporation.

Planet 4 - Kali
Type: Terrestrial
Primary Terrain: Jungle (60% water coverage)
Atmosphere: Toxic
Rings: Faint ring system
Gravity: 0.7
The planet’s atmosphere is toxic to humans primarily because of the concentration of chlorine gas. Apart from the icy polar regions, the planet is covered with lush indigenous plant life. There are no insects or larger animals.
There is one domed human settlement, Labrys City. The settlement is about 30 years old, and the population is about 40,000 women. The colony was founded by lesbian separatists. Labrys City is mostly self-sufficient for food, with extensive farms under domes, however they have little industrial capacity and therefore must trade for many items. Their primary trade items are native plants.

Jump Gate - "Alice"
There is also a smaller space station nearby that contains fuel and rudimentary repair facilities for ships that desperately need them. This smaller station is called "Callum".
-----
Planet 5 - Ganga
Type: Ice dwarf planet
Atmosphere: None
Moons: One moonlet
Gravity: 0.1
There’s an ice-mining settlement that serves the terraforming operations on Shiva. There is no permanent population; the majority of the workers call Shiva their home. The mining operation is owned by the Big Sky corporation.
-----
Planet 6 - Indra
Type: Gas giant
Atmosphere: Incapable of supporting life
Moons: 4 moonlets, 2 moons, 3 captured asteroids
Gravity: 1
Indra is the source of much scoop harvesting of hydrogen to fuel Jump Gate Alice in this system. A small space station orbits the planet far away to be safe from its magnetic field. The station is a small maintenance and refuelling spot for the scoop harvesters.
Its moon, Lakshmi, has a mining base on it. The operation is about 20 years old, and it’s owned by the Green Star corporation, which of course runs hundreds of mining operations in this and several other clusters. The moon has no atmosphere; the population lives in a settlement consisting of six connected domes. A big Green Star ship comes by once a month to drop off supplies, pick up ore, and exchange personnel. Between scheduled drops, the base depends on private couriers.

Planet 7 - Ganesha
Type: Gas giant
Atmosphere: Incapable of supporting life
Moons: 9 moonlets, 3 moons, 5 captured asteroids
Rings: Faint ring system
Gravity: 0.8

Dobbs Habitat
This is what happens when potential treasure drifts in space: a rat's warren of metal and plastic that fifty or so prospectors call home. They try to find new salvage, especially alien devices, jetting back and forth between their home and the Leary and running their savings in the ground paying for fuel and food.
-----
Jump Ship wreckage
About five years ago (EY212) the jump ship Leary appeared here. No one was close enough to see if its damage was caused by something that happened before it jumped or the result of a badly-navigated jump, but it was mostly torn asunder when it appeared. Homeworld stripped everything they could find of real worth from the hulk. The rest was too large and distant to drag back and too damaged to repair, so it's been floating here for the half decade since its return. Freelance salvage operators have found some treasures in the gnarled remains, enough so that the Dobbs habitat was built nearby.

Planet 8 - Brahma
Type: Gas giant
Atmosphere: Incapable of supporting life
Moons: 6 moonlets, 4 moons, 3 captured asteroids
Rings: Faint ring system
Gravity: 1.3
-----
Planet 9 - Durga
Type: Ice giant
Atmosphere: Incapable of supporting life
Moons: 6 moonlets, 4 moons, 4 captured asteroids
Rings: Faint ring system
Gravity: 1.1
